Once a rumor gets going, no matter what the source, it is near impossible to stop. Even a company as large as Toyota can fall prey to the rumor mill as it turns out. Apparently, someone out there knows the release date of the highly anticipated Toyota Prius v better than Toyota does.
This has to have been some imaginative spin to the official announcement that the Toyota Alpha hybrid minivan had been slightly delayed. Regardless, Mark Toyota would like to set the record straight: at this time there has been no delay, and the Toyota Prius v is still on track for a fall delivery.
And, if our word isn't good enough, how is Toyota's? After catching wind of the rumor, they were quick to release an official statement, in which they said, "Following Toyota Motor Corporation's announcement in Japan today that delivery of the Prius alpha will be delayed, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. announced that the Prius v is still on track for delivery to U.S. customers this fall...Delay of the Japan-market Prius alpha is due to the ongoing effects of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami."1
