It is no secret that Toyota is planning on turning their popular Prius into a lineup of Prius models in order to appeal to a wider range of car-buyers. While we knew that models like the upcoming Prius v were on the way, we were in the dark when it came to details. But, now we have been graced with a multitude of information concerning the highly anticipated Prius v, and we are excited to share the information with you!

The Toyota Prius v aims to reduce larger families' dependence on gasoline while also catering to their more hectic lifestyles. The Prius v can seat five people quite comfortably, and still manages to pack a good amount of cargo room. Versatile is the best way to describe this car as the 60/40 split rear bench can fold down in combination with the fold-flat front seat to offer four different seating configurations.

Toyota knows that families tend to take long trips and haul lots of cargo, which is why they have outfitted the Prius v with a full 34 cubic feet of cargo room. According to Bob Carter, Group Vice President and General Manager, the Prius v has "more cargo space than 80% of small SUVs."1 This makes the Prius v ideal for any situation that a family might come into, whether they need to lug groceries and cooler or sporting and camping gear, the Prius v will be ready for it!

The versatility does not stop there though. Toyota realizes that families can be messy, and they are always in demand of a way to deal with this problem. Nothing makes it more evident that the people at Toyota are listening than a good look at the Prius v's interior design. The upholstery is made out of SofTex, a material that is both stain resistant and inspired by leather. This material gives the Prius v a more luxurious side that most people wouldn't expect a family focused hybrid to have.

In the end though, we all know that it really comes down to one thing, especially when the vehicle is using the name Prius: Gas mileage. And, in terms of fuel economy, the Prius v, once again, does not disappoint. The vehicle is built around a rear-wheel-drive system with a 1.8-liter, 98-hp, 4-cylinder engine. It is estimated to use only 5.35L/100km (1.41gal/62mi) on the highway and 5.88L/100km (1.55gal/62mi) in the city.

2012 Toyota Prius Vital Stats:

- Push-button start
