When you think of a European-built car, Toyota generally isn't the first thing that comes to mind; they are headquartered in Japan, and manufacture many of their models here in the United States, after all. Well, at Mark Toyota we say préparez-vous à être supris, because there is a vehicle on its way to American shores built in France.

Which one? The Toyota Yaris.

The compact hatch will be the first-ever European-built Toyota model to be sold in the United States. It is put together at the Valenciennes plant, a city in northern France that lies on the Scheldt River near Belgium, historically known for producing fine lace materials in addition to the Yaris. The plant is also responsible for the hybrid version of the Yaris, which is only available in Europe, but we'd say is quite similar to the Prius c here in our Plover, WI showroom.

It is expected that 25,000 units from France will arrive in the United States, and will even have a unique VIN that will start with the letter V over the usual J for Japanese-made Yaris models.

We're looking forward to the vehicle's arrival at Mark Toyota, and might even have a baguette, brie, and a fine wine to celebrate. If you'd like to learn more about the Yaris or any other new Toyota model, stop in and see us today. We're happy to highlight new models, answer any questions, and arrange a test drive in the vehicle that has a certain 'je ne sais pas' that appeals to you.
