In this recent upload by Toyota, a foolhardy photographer gets bitten by a snake while wading about in a Texas swamp.

Texas is home to the largest herpetofauna diversity of any state. Translation: they've got a lot of snakes, and other creepy-crawlies. While Texas certainly has its share of venomous snakes, they've only got one venomous water snake, the Cottonmouth.

This is the species our hapless hero doubtless thinks he's been tagged by. It is a large, black colored snake, so not a bad assessment. Except that a Cottonmouth bite would burn like fire under the skin and start swelling almost immediately.

A bite from the equally dark-colored Southern Watersnake, on the other hand, will barely even sting.

At least he had his Toyota 4Runner with him. That truck-based SUV has the high clearance, body-on-frame construction, skid plates, and 4WD to tackle all sorts of road conditions.

Even if you're not prepared for snakes, your SUV will at least be prepared to get you back home.
