The Toyota Prius delivers when you need a safe vehicle. For several consecutive years, the car has been a top safety pick as rated by IIHS. The NHTSA has given the car a five-star rating for many years. To get these top ratings, the vehicle comes with a host of active and passive safety features; some which are standard and others which are available.

You will have standard passive features, such as 10 airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, child safety locks, daytime running lights, and four-wheel ABS. Further, Toyota offers the Star Safety System, which is a suite of more passive safety features. The features include anti-lock brake system, brake assist, smart stop technology, vehicle stability control, traction control, and electronic brake distribution.

The Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 introduces a range of active safety features to assist the driver. These include automatic high beams, road sign assist, lane tracing assist, lane departure warning, pre-collision warning, pedestrian detection, and dynamic radar cruise control.
