Folks, it seems like just yesterday when we here at Mark Toyota told you about how well our favorite automaker fared in the Consumer Reports 2013 Car Brand Perception Survey. If it wouldn't have garnered sideways glances, we were so proud we could have just hugged our new and used cars. Well now that we've gotten word on how our cars sold in January, we better get to hugging before they're gone.
After a year of record sales in 2012, Toyota recently announced that the gravy train is still rolling strong. In January 2013, the Japanese automaker sold 157,725 units, marking a 21.6% increase in their daily selling rate and a 26.1% increase in comparison to units sold in January 2012. Not too shabby, eh?
"The sales pace we saw in the fourth quarter of last year rolled into January, exceeding our expectations for the industry," says Bill Fay, Toyota Division group vice president and general manager of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. "Toyota started the year off strong . . . [and] with the 2013 Toyota Avalon and 2013 Toyota RAV4 off to a great start, our focus remains firmly on new products and taking care of our customers."1
As for how our individual models performed, well the good news just keeps on coming:
- Toyota Camry sales were up by 12.7% (31,897 units sold)
- Toyota Corolla sales were up by 32.4% (23,822 units sold)
- And Toyota Prius models posted their best January sales month ever with an increase of 36.5% (15,772 units sold)
So if you'd like to hear more or see for yourself why folks just can't seem to get enough of Toyota, then come on down for a test drive here at 1765 Park Avenue in Plover, Wi 54467. Because if things keep going like they're going, we might end up making history over here.
